never mind how what strings he used or who played faster then the other guy, how about just enjoying a killer performance. night music recorded a lot of great artists from every kind of music. Have there ever been any dvds? or torrents?

How can someone someone be so stupid and say that Stevie was not very fast at guitar?
Stevie is one of fastest guitar players ever.
He wouldn't just play fast and do just to make it amating, he would put 120% himself into every song and concert, play with so much passion, soul, finesse, tehnique...
He had some pretty mad guitar skills and he had the best tone on a guitar ever!
There will never be someone like him!
He is with a reason called a guitar god and a legend!

Speed isn't everything. There's a difference between not playing something, and not being able to play something.

Not every week...but his guitars were modified somewhat to withstand those strings. Its said that he even used as heavy as .14s and .15s at times. He used a heavier bridge and springs to keep it in tune. Most of all of this can be found in his bios - check out "Caught in the Crossfire." Its a fantastic book, especially if you're a guitar player.

Have to agree...anyone who knows anything about tone will tell you that heavier strings give you a more fluid and thicker tone. I've used heavier strings for years. There are plenty of players who don't use heavy strings though...and their tone is thinner and has a different quality to it. I guess its up to the listener/player as what "great tone" is. Some people play Line 6 amps and some play vintage Fenders. =)

First time I've heard SRV use pinch harmonics.
