EVH has great knowledge of theory and has made some great music. But Tom goes beyond the math and into the "sonic" level of blending sounds. Almost like some kind of Asian approach to the music.

I wish you were EVH too. That way you could only do speed and flashy tricks on the guitar and NEVER be able to make beautiful compositions like Tom made. "Woe, woe, woe, Jamie's crying. Cua, cua." For goodness sakes--and people actually paid for that music.

As the guy below said, it's a modified Echoplex which Tom Scholz called his Hyperspace Pedal.

Fran has the range but that timbre is bad, I hate to say. It's too thin and shaky sounding. It's always been like that. Check out the great Barry Goodreau solo album from 1980 and you will see what I mean. The song Leaving Tonight is a perfect example.

True. His pitch is usually flat too and you can tell he is singing from his throat instead of diaphragm by the strain in his voice. Won't be long now until he has no voice at all. :P

P.S. He did a very good job on the song "Dreams" from that album. I actually just got the Hamilton, Ontario DVD and he sounds okay there too.

You do know the original singer on the album version of Dreams is Brad Delp though, right?
I hate when all my comments to posts don't appear directly under the comment I'm replying to. I know where to click too so it's not that I'm using the general reply link.

It went under this time. Yes, I did know that. However his backup vocals were amazing!

Wait a minute, then I'm seeing something different. I don't see that last post under yours like you said it did. Do me a favor, look at my post that starts with the sentence "I wish you were EVH too." Let me know if it shows as a response to a guy criticizing your video or Tom Scholz or the band. Or, tell me if it's just one of about four of my posts back to back looking like they're not responding to anyone.
Flashkidgotsuspended (November 22, 2008 at 3:37 pm)
Nope that is on the top. But both times you responded to me are under my comments!
