The Alesis ION is just a blast to play!   This analog modeling synth is very smooth for an analog simulator.  This is made possible by  a DSP chip that executes 500 million instructions pre second.   And  because of the increased DSP processing power that Alesis has developed the ION still has phenomenal realtime control.  There is also a 40 Band Vocoder now that's really cool. And the vocoder doesn't use up any of the 8 synth voices that use "Continuously Variable Wave Shapes"  Also used  is 16 filter FM synthesis and a flexible LFO section, sample and hold circuit, and a cool arpeggiator that is hard to stop playing around with!
